If you're experiencing slow tcp connections or have trouble connecting to certain sites:

echo 4096 87380 174760 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_rmem

will fix it.
To automatically load this setting on boot put

net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 4096 87380 174760

into your /etc/sysctl.conf.

I've spent the last weekend trying to build a gcc-4.1, uclibc-0.9.28 based remote-boot rescue environmant for my employer. Building
the stages was a bit troublesome in the past e.g. perl problems that have been resolved (thanks mcummings) and other little obstacles
that have been resolved in the tree or in my local overlay.

On Sunday afternoon everything was working to the point where i could run catalyst2 to build a stage4 tarball, put the content onto the
remote boot server, grab the notebook and boot the system with pxelinux, dhcp and nfsroot. Only things left to fix were a few initscript
errors caused by unionfs and a few tools segfaulting, including top and ps, while pstree and most other tools were working fine...

A short summary / overview of what has happened in the last weeks:

- gnugk-2.2.3_p2 is in portage

- pwlib-1.8.4 and openh323-1.15.3 cleanup, finally removing /usr/share/pwlib/include and lib
(not yet in portage)

- working on pwlib-1.9.1, openh323-1.17.2 and opal-2.1.1 (the first two being dependencies of woomera)

- linphone-1.1.0

- Asterisk-1.2.0_beta1 has been released, currently hardmasked
New features:

asterisk-1.2.0_beta1.ebuild:
osp - OSP (Open Settlement Protocol) support
h323 - Build the included chan_h323.so H.323 plugin
nosamples - Flag to skip the installation of sample configuration and sound files
lowmem - Enables low memory support for embedded machines
odbc - Build the odbc database support plugin for Asterisk's realtime feature,
call detail recording and odbc application for the dialplan

zaptel-1.2.0_beta1.ebuild:
ecmark, ecmark2, ecmark3, ecsteve, ecsteve2 - Select one of Zaptel's echo cancellers,
mark2 being the default one (even without the use flag enabled!), first flag set wins
(the ebuild will tell you which one has been selected)
ecaggressive - Enable this one to make the Mark2 echo canceller a little more aggressive
watchdog - Enable Zaptel's watchdog for unresponsive cards
zapras, zapnet - Build Zaptel with support for PPP RAS and Frame-Relay

There's no BRI (bristuff) support at the moment!

Beta2 ToDo list:
instsrc flag: Install Libpri, Zaptel and Asterisk sources into /usr/src (done, needs some tweaking)
cleanup of gentoo patchset (partially done)
probably remove the gtk flag, gtk/kde plugins have been disabled in the Makefile, status unknown
add use flag for odbc voicemail storage


- Sangoma Wanpipe drivers (wanpipe-2.3.2_p4), hardmasked

I don't have a Sangoma card and a T1/E1 line (generally no FXO/FXS/T1/E1 cards), so this one is completely untested
(builds on x86 and amd64 and modprobe wanpipe spits out a nice "No such device" message...).
Ebuild installs no (init-) scripts, just the driver + tools...


And the usual stuff like new Asterisk plugins, updates...

This version of res_js sets Chan.callerid_num and Chan.callerid_name to the intended values with Asterisk-1.0.X. It's also the first ebuild that's prepared for Asterisk-1.2.0_preX. Interested? Grab it here.

Yay, 1.0.9 is out...
... and no, it won't be in the tree soon

Why? The only change between 1.0.8 and 1.0.9 is the callerid fix and a new Changelog
entry. The callerid fix is already included in the 1.0.8 ebuild and i don't feel like bumping ebuilds
for a few lines of Changelog changes

I'll use 1.0.9 to add some new features (read: use flags), but that will take some time...
